No matter how skilful you are in the kitchen, grabbing sufurias and slicing onions is never fun.

Some would argue that a bachelor would have an easier time climbing a chilly, snowy mountain than cooking.

This is the market that Elizabeth Eshiwani targets with her 24 hour food kiosk.

Mtaa Wangu meets the 38-year-old along KANU Street. She stands as one among a few people whose Kibandaski business runs round-the clock.

Elizabeth initially inherited the kibanda from her parents in the year 2003 which at that time wasn't running 24 hours, until the year 2020.

Blessing hotel has made it easier for people around, mostly bachelors, to get food at any time of day or night.

According to Elizabeth, most of her customers are men and a few ladies. Majority of her customers are during the night where she gets more than 30 customers to attend to at any given time.

Elizabeth says “I could not manage all the work by myself and therefore had to employ four more people to assist. We all interchange and have shifts during the day. Two run in the morning, while three run at night.”

According to Elizabeth, the cooks start preparing food at 5.00 pm ensuring that cooking starts at exactly 6.00pm.

Elizabeth uses Sh 5,000 a day to satisfy the needs of her customers by preparing all kinds of homemade foods. By the end of each day she makes Sh 2,000 profit.

According to a frequent customer Vincent Kamau, “one of the most exasperating tasks to perform as a bachelor is cooking.”

Kamau therefore prefers visiting the Kibandaski, which to him is pocket friendly compared to getting everything he needs to prepare while at home.
