10bn mall constructed at Eveready factory grounds

Ever since Eveready company shut down its Nakuru plant, the parcel of land lay bare with tall bushes and thickets growing, with no one tending to it.

In 2022, the Local Authorities Pension Fund (LAPFUND) set out to build a Sh10 billion mall on the parcel of land that was previously owned by Eveready, which was sold in 2017 for Sh1.3 billion.

In Nakuru, many small business owners have bid farewell to the banners displaying Till and Paybill numbers, which are used to facilitate mobile payments.

Nakuru's first drive-thru restaurant

Today, Nakuru makes history, having its first drive-through restaurant.

Kentucky’s Fried Chicken, commonly known as KFC today opened its second branch in Nakuru along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway, which doubles as a drive-through and dine-in restaurant.

As you drive off the Nakuru-Eldoret highway making your way into Molo town, you are greeted by a magnificent sight of trees that go as far as the eyes can see.
