Members of the public can now make their bids for the purchase of the low cost housing units in Bondeni, following completion of the construction project.

The government, through the ministry of lands housing and urban planning has invited prospective homeowners to visit and purchase the ready units at the affordable housing projects in Bondeni.

“Prospective purchasers are invited to visit Bondeni housing site to view the houses and register to purchase on the Boma Yangu portal,” read part of the notice.

The construction of the 605 low cost housing units in Bondeni was the first phase of the government's affordable housing program in Nakuru, which was being done through a public private partnership deal.

The Sh2 billion project was funded by the King Sapphire Developers, a subsidiary of Royal Group Industries.

Speaking during the launch of the project in 2021, Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga had indicated that the project would have 45 one-bedroom units each going for Sh1.55 million, 180 two-bedroom units each at Sh3.15 million and 380 three-bedroom units at Sh4.25 million each.

Mohamed Hassan Ali the Kings Saphire Developers director who spoke to Mtaa Wangu confirmed that the project was completed in December.

The government has however advertised for purchases of only the two and three bedroomed units.

According to the notice a 2-bedroom unit of 64 square metres will go at a cost of Sh 3,150,000 while a three bedroomed unit of 85 square meters will sell at a cost of Sh 4,250,000.

The purchasers will be required to pay a 10 percent deposit to qualify and will be offered a rent to own home loans at a monthly rate of Sh 17,000 and Sh 23,000 for two and three bedrooms respectively.
