One thing that isn't talked about enough at the workplace is the clear differences between various generations and how these can at times cause friction or misunderstanding.

Up until now, most of my bosses have been millennials which has helped me understand them just a bit better.

Below is a guide to help you better navigate this interesting dynamic:

1. Embrace their leadership style

One thing all my millennial bosses have had in common is their inclusive leadership approach and regular feedback sessions.

Unlike most boomers, millennial bosses will actually implement your ideas and even give you credit for it.

So when asked for collaboration, be sure to give feedback, contribute ideas and even participate in discussions.

2. Honesty

Another one of the great things I've come to appreciate in my millennial bosses is their need for constant and open communication.

So when your millennial boss is seeking out your challenges, goals or expectations at the workplace, be honest.

This not only fosters mutual understanding, but also room to get the right tools and leadership needed for you to achieve your goals.

3. Adaptability

The irony of being a Gen Z is that we are known to be very adaptable but yet, many of us find it hard to adapt, especially at the work place.

Remember that your millennial boss got there due to their skillset. That said, be open to gleaning as much as you can from them; they are actually bomb mentors.
