Before I became a Nakuru girl I was a Nairobi damsel, and the few years of adulting I have done in the city under the sun I have been able to learn a few things about the dating scene and social habits of its inhabitants.

If you are a social butterfly then I am sure you have heard of Nairobi being described as one big bedroom, I could go into the details of why this is so but that is a story for another day.

But ever since I moved, I have been curious about the social lifestyle of the people in this beautiful city of Nakuru.

From what I have observed during my short stay, I think the two cities have more in common and very little difference.

Now before you come for my head, I promise I can explain.

If you know me, you know that I live for the nightlife. And one thing about nightlife is the comfort that the cover of night seems to provide, allowing you to explore your naughty side.

And from what I have seen, the people of Nakuru certainly know how to get naughty; but unlike in Nairobi, usherati here is done in a hush-hush manner.

For example, in the big city under the sun, young girls proudly flaunt and post their big-bellied sponsors, but here in Nakuru, you would easily be dragged to the nearest church for deliverance prayers.

So how do sponsors and their young girlfriends meet here in Nakuru?

For the younger generation of married men, 'fooling around' tends to take place in busy, hype-filled nightclubs where they know there is no chance of their wives showing up.

While their babyghurls (mostly campus girls) are bathed in suffocating perfumes, bad make-up and overpriced alcohol.

The older generation, the Wababaz, tend to take their clande's to hideouts, popularly known as hidden gems in Nakuru or Naivasha.

I have always wondered what excuse a mubaba gives his wife to get away with being away from home for a whole weekend.

And if you think married people are sneaky, you have not seen the cunning ways in which young people in very 'committed' relationships fool around.

But that's a story for another day.

For now, is it safe to say that Nakuru, like Nairobi, is one big bedroom? I'll let you be the judge of that.
