Nakuru’s Honeymoon Hill will soon be a creative economic hub if a move by a local Community Based Organization (CBO) succeeds.

The CBO dubbed ‘Honeymoon Hill CBO’ has been working closely with the creative industry in Nakuru and is determined to transform the area.

In an interview with Mtaa Wangu, Honeymoon Hill CBO Programs Coordinator Barbushe Maina- fondly referred to as the ‘Father of art’ in Nakuru revealed that the CBO is working to put up a creative economic hub.

The Hub will include a bird watching site, a hotel fitted with a swimming pool and a creative space for young people in Nakuru to showcase their talents to visitors who tour the Park.

It will also serve as a place for creatives to sell their artwork.

“We have great plans to make the area around Honeymoon Hill a creative economic Hub zone. I know challenges are there but we shall fulfil this dream” he said.

When Mtaa Wangu visited the area, we noticed small round huts that locals say hold historical value as they were used by visitors during the langalanga race car events in previous years.

It should be noted that Nakuru is among the 49 cities listed under UNESCO's Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
