The first thing to keep in mind when deciding what to wear is to research on the company’s dress code to know their expectations.

Remember, how you dress unintentionally communicates professionalism and readiness for the job. Keeping this in mind, if you are unsure about the company’s dressing policy, it is always safer to show up looking professional rather than underdressed.

What does a professional look consist of? Contrary to popular belief, looking professional is not limited to suits only.

Your options can range from a skirt with a matching jacket to official pants paired with an official/button-down blouse or a dress paired with a matching jacket.

Don’t forget the major key to pulling-off the official look is to ensure your shoes are closed-toe shoes. Your shoe options are not only limited to flats; you can also show up in heels.

However, be sure to wear heels that you can comfortably walk in. Most importantly, ensure your shoes are clean.

Integral parts of dressing for most ladies also include hair and makeup. For both of these, they are an essential way of showing your personality. However, for official purposes, remember, less goes a long way.

While speaking to Lilian Auma, a hairdresser at Radiant Blaze salon, she shares, “I recommend braids neatly done and styled, a simple weave not too crazy and neatly plaited lines.”

A huge thing people also tend to forget or ignore is the company’s tattoo policy. Remember to cover these up in the case your company is against them.

When choosing a fragrance, be sure to avoid strong ones as these tend to be distracting and can cause discomfort for those around you.

Some of the clothing to avoid are those with stains or holes, clothes that are ill-fitting or those that need constant readjustment.

Another thing to avoid are shirts or tops with large logos and revealing clothes.

Lastly, do not forget the most important accessory to add to your outfit; confidence. With that said, do not forget to iron your clothes ladies.
