On January 7, 2024, Magdalene Kayondo and Stephen Kyalo tied the knot at an SDA church in Nakuru. At the wedding that attracted a full house, there were those who came to celebrate with the couple.

Others however were drawn in by curiosity, that of wanting to witness the wedding between two people living with dwarfism.

Seeing how obvious the love between the two was, Mtaa Wangu sought to find out how the two met. Interestingly, Magdalene and Stephen met through their mutual Pastor friend identified as George Mutuku.

According to Magdalene, George knew her since she was young having grown up in Machakos as neighbours.

“It was the pastor who gave Stephen my contact. Were it not for God using Pst. George, I still would not have met the man of my dreams. In a world where connections often take time to grow, mine only took a day to say yes to dating him without actually physically meeting him,” she expresses with a chuckle.

According to Magdalene, in just a day of exchanging thoughts she knew deep down in her heart that the connection between them was worth both exploring and taking a risk.

“A month after getting to know each other we met in April last year and it is from this point that our bond grew stronger. He was an honest person in which he still is, a trait that makes me love him more each single day.”

On his part, Stephen shares that he always told Pst. George to pray for him to get a wife as he longed to have one.

“One day at the makutano junction I asked him if he was still praying for me to get a wife, and it is at this point that he gave me Magdalene’s contact,” Stephen recalls.

Stephen shares that he would wait for a truck most of the time to hitch a ride from Machakos to Nakuru and back to ensure he met her every month.

Additionally, he notes that his wife having a child from her previous relationship did not hinder their undying love but instead strengthened their relationship.

In regards to the wedding, Magdalene notes that with the help of her church friends, she planned her wedding, something that came as a surprise to Stephen.

“On Friday was our engagement and my husband was planning to go back to Machakos on Saturday the following day, only to be told to stay as the wedding was on Sunday.”

She not only thanked her parents for assisting in planning the wedding but also the friends who would send money from as low as Sh 50 when they heard she was planning a wedding.

She reveals that she used part of the money to rent her wedding gown at Sh 5000.

Stephen could not help but remark with laughter “ God has a way to connect people even with their sizes, as apart from getting a prayerful woman that I needed, I met a perfect size match for me.”
