The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) bus is now back in operation after being out of service for more than two years since Covid-19 struck.

The bus that ferries people to Lake Nakuru National park has maintained its pick up point at Railways station next to the Pinkam roundabout

According to the Assistant director at the park, Titus Mitau, the bus resumed its operation during Easter, and has registered a steady increase of tourists since.

He notes that the bus will be making two trips on Saturday and Sunday.

“The first pickup time is 9 am. The group will then get a three-hour game drive in the park and get dropped back in town at 12.30 pm. If there are more people, we will make a second trip at 2 pm,” says Mr Mitau.

He adds that charges for a Kenyan citizen is Sh 1,000 for adults and Sh 300 for children while non-citizens will pay $60 for adults and $35 for children.

The mode of payment is cashless, hence payments can be made through M-Pesa, VISA card, or direct deposits to the KWS bank account.

Once in the park, the bus makes several stops to allow you to seize the moment with pictures.

Some of the spectacular sceneries in the park include Makalia falls, baboon cliff and the famous Lake Nakuru dotted with pink flamingos.

If you are lucky, you get to spot the black rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard and maybe the rare and endangered Rothschild’s giraffe or the uncommon African wild dog.
