Bunny Asila is a man with a vision to bridge the gap between global and local artists by forging connections across borders and cultures.

As the director of Mziki Tours, his organisation sets the stage for a harmonious exchange where musicians from different backgrounds and genres come together in Kenya.

In an exclusive interview with Mtaa Wangu, Asila mentions that Mziki Tours focuses on organising transformative gospel tours for musicians from different parts of the world.

His first stop is his home town of Nakuru, where he admits there is immense talent.

The tours, he says, provide a platform for local artists to not only be exposed to vibrant musical genres beyond their own, but also to travel abroad for invaluable training, networking opportunities and awe-inspiring showcases of their musical prowess.

In addition, he plans to establish an exchange programme through Mziki Tours, inviting both local and global artists to participate in a mutual artistic pilgrimage.

"Through this visionary initiative, our local artists can reap the rich rewards of the diaspora while providing a platform for our international visitors to flourish," Asila said.

A major milestone was reached with the inaugural Mziki Gospel Tour festival, which graced the vibrant city of Nakuru.

Asila mentions that the Mziki Gospel Festival will also be held in Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu and other cities in the future.

The event hosted an extraordinary array of talent, bringing together a choir of 160 musicians from Tokyo, Switzerland, Finland, France and other nations.

The event also saw international virtuosos harmonise with Nakuru's own local talents as they exchanged cultures, shared musical skills and networked.

Jenna, a gospel choir director from Tokyo, gives her personal testimony to the transformative power of the project.

Mziki Tours, she says, has given her choir the extraordinary privilege of interacting with mass choirs from all corners of the world.

It is an experience she cherishes, and is grateful for the remarkable programme that has woven her life into an intricate tapestry of cultural understanding and musical unity.
