Joy Juma, a first year student at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) is the new Miss Face of Nakuru.

Juma was crowned this coveted title at the second edition of Miss Face of Nakuru yesterday night at Chili's Tavern.

In the event that ran from 10.30 pm to 5.40 am, Juma floored 16 contestants to emerge the winner and take home Sh 25,000.

During the much awaited finals, the audience jammed to good music played by DJ Sirme backed by Mc Fred omondi brother to comedian Eric Omondi.

The models opened the floor with a black and white run way walk to create awareness on mental health.

On the judges’ bench were Joan Musumba the founder of Children in Climate Action, Mercy Grace Kavataa a mental health advocate and Brian Otok Mr World finalist 2018.

The three judged the contestants under five categories namely vintage, traditional creatives wear, bikini, evening wear and Q & A.

Lancer Somoni a final year student at KMTC taking diploma in pharmacy was the first runners up and was awarded Ksh 15,000.

Vivian Nyambura was the second runners up and walked away with Ksh 10,000. She is a first year student at Mwangaza college taking fashion and design.

Based on a popular vote by the contestants, Magdaline Takangori won the Face of Nakuru Miss Congeniality.

The event was sponsored by the Psychiatric Disability Organization Kenya (PDO), an organization dealing with mental health together with the County Government of Nakuru and Chili's Club.

"All contestants will be taken to a fully sponsored trip to a resort in Elemantaita over the weekend. This is being done to help the girls ease the tension they experienced during the competition," said Iregi Mwenja the CEO at PDO.
