All is set for the much-awaited Great Rift 10 Aside tournament and the Currie Cup match between Kenya and Zimbabwe to be held on May 20 and 21.

Speaking during a media briefing, the Nakuru Rugby Football Club chairman Ombui Ratemo says, adequate security and logistical preparations have been put in place ahead of the highly publicized match expected to be attended by more than 5,000 fans.

Mr Ratemo notes that the most valuable player (MVP) will be gifted 50,000 cash and a trophy by the family of the late Chairman of Nakuru RFC, Daniel Mwangi, who passed on three years ago to honour him.

The team’s tournament director, Edward Museti has confirmed that eight teams from the Kenya Cup and Nationwide side will take part in the Great Rift 10 aside tournament including, Nakuru RFC, Kiambu RFC, Kabarak University, Blakblad RC, Mean Machine, Kibabii University, KCB, Nakuru exiles

"The eight are set for Saturday. Only three teams Quins, Northern Suburbs, and Homeboyz are yet to confirm their participation," says Museti.

Ready for the Great Rift 10 aside

Commenting on their preparedness, Kenya Simba’s captain, George Nyambua, notes that they are ready for the match.

“We have met Zimbabwe on different stages. They are a good team and we cannot ignore what they bring to the table,” says Nyambua

The event will run for two days over the weekend with a match spread out between Saturdays and Sundays.
