Nakuru born athlete Faith Kipyegon has done it again this time breaking the women's one-mile World Record in Monaco.

Kipyegon finished in Four minutes and seven seconds. She becomes the first woman in history to finish the race in under four minutes and ten seconds.

She broke the record, which was set in 2019 by Sifan Hassan, who had it at four minutes and 12 seconds.

It's her third world record in less than two months, completing a Diamond League treble after breaking the 1,500m record in Florence on June 2 and the 5,000m record in France on June 9.

Kipyegon is a double Olympic and World 1,500 champion and the Nakuru City Stanbic Marathon brand ambassador, she hails from Keringet, Kuresoi South Sub County, Nakuru County.

Her exceptional performance and dedication to her sport has earned her the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year Award (SOYA) as Sports Woman of the Year in both the year 2021 and 2022.

The 29-year-old took a maternity break after winning gold in Rio, before returning to claim silver in a national record time of 3:54:22.
