Safaricom Chapa Dimba action is in Nakuru with its Rift Valley regional finals being launched yesterday at the Kaptembwo grounds.

Nakuru’s side Trinity Mission Girls and Mwenge FC will be battling it out with Rift Valley’s tournament defending Champions Laiser Hill Academy from Kajiado County and Ol Melil Girl’s Secondary from Narok.

Joining the action to complete the eight teams battling it out for the Rift region title on Saturday and Sunday is Wiyeta Girls, Itigo Girls, Ndura Sports, and PASC Langa FC.

On the girl’s team, newly crowned Nakuru champions, Trinity Mission Girls secured their place in the finals after Peris Mumbi netted two goals in the 17th and 22nd minutes registering their win against Ridges Queens from Nyandarua.

Mwenge FC on the other end will be flagging Nakuru’s flag high after thrashing Lorubae FC from Samburu 4-0.

The telecommunication organized tournament was launched in 2017 as a national grassroots football tournament in collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation.

Its aim is nurturing talented boys and girls aged between 16-20 while allowing them to earn from their talent.

The tournament also aims to provide a structured platform for scouts and coaches to tap into a vast resource of upcoming talent and build feeder systems for the Kenyan league nationwide while training 250 coaches.

In this year’s tournament, Safaricom has committed over Sh 400 million to support the young stars across the country.

The winning team in regionals finals will walk home with Sh 250,000 cash prize award while the runners up will take Sh 150,0000.

The best player, top Scorer and best Keeper in the boys and girls team will also bag Sh 30,000 cash prize each.

Other than the cash prize to the best players, TVET colleges Scholarships will be awarded to top talents; Best Boy and Girl players, from every county and the winning Girls and Boys Team at the National Final.
