Virginia Njenga is the winner of the Lady Captain’s prize golf tournament at the par 73 Njoro golf course in Nakuru County.

Ms Njenga carded an excellent score of 48 points to claim her victory at the tournament that brought together over 60 golfers from Nakuru and its environs.

Speaking after her win, Ms Njenga said: “I attribute my win to the immense training I have undertaken for this tournament."

Coming in second place after was Betty Kisoi who carded 44 points, while Irene Ashioya came third with 42 points.

Teresia Muturi took home the Lady Winner award while James Kimani claimed the first nine having garnered 20 points.

Beatrice Bitonga, on the other hand, won the second nine award after amassing 23 points.

John Numi registered the highest points on the longest drive in the men’s category after amassing 74 points while Emma Pennington clinched the award in the ladies’ category.

Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Director Sales Dr. Kennedy Nyakomitta was rewarded best effort, while his colleague, Director Retail Banking George Otiende, was the staff winner.

“The greens were good today. I commend the chairman and the entire leadership of this club for ensuring that the course is well kept. We look forward to partnering in future tournaments,” said Mr Otiende.

For the nearest to the pin award, Joseph Chege won in the men’s category while Susan Gichuki claimed it in the women’s.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu, the Lady captain of the Njoro golf Club Catherine Oosterwijk encouraged more people to participate in golf tournaments in Nakuru.

“Golf is a great networking sport and we encourage more residents to participate,” she said.
