Vasha has always been a vibe during the World Rally Championship (WRC) season. The cocktail of events going on at the rally is what makes it a worthwhile trip to take.

From parties in the wild to catching the dare devil drivers in action and the fashion extravaganza at the spectator zones, WRC is synonymous with fun.

However, on the flip side, the rally brings with it some challenges including heavy road traffic as well as shortage of accommodation for fans who travel far and wide to attend the rally.

Weather in Naivasha

This year, the weatherman says rains may be present; a great distinction from the last three years where the rally was marked with a warm weather and dusty roads.

Heavy rains have already started in Naivasha where the WRC safari rally event will be held.

A tweet by the Kenya Meteorological department on the weather outlook in Nakuru County between March 26 to April 1, indicates that there will be heavy rains.

While this may be a pleasant challenge for the drivers, it could make things hard for the fans.

Consequently, for those planning to attend the event, you might have to consider a wardrobe change and jump into warm and comfy wear.

Also, consider having an umbrella as a plus one for this event.

Other than what to put on, traffic has always been a challenge for rally enthusiasts. Individuals have had to stay in the jam for hours as they try to access different points creating the WRC experience less memorable.

Traffic Control

However, Nakuru County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi, says they have made all necessary arrangements to curb the traffic menace during this year's WRC event.

“Over 1,000 police officers from different units will be deployed on different zones to ensure we solve the traffic issue. 310 traffic police officers will be stationed in the spectator zones to ensure vehicles coming in and out of this area do not cause a snarl up at any time. In our attempt to ease off traffic, all spectator zones will have an entry and exit point,” he notes firmly.

Additionally, Mr Ndanyi says the police highly discourage hawking on the roadside as well as the popular habit by ‘Subaru boys’ to party on the road side.

Accommodation options

For those who did not secure a place to camp and lounge, ‘Aluta’ may be your best option.

One hack revellers have been exploring is hitting party joints and napping in their cars in the parking lots.
