Residents of Kwa Wambura in Bahati Constituency have been complaining for a period of time over the poor state of roads in the area.

The road that is situated along a business centre is said to have been constructed from Vineyard, Mawanga, to Mugonyu.

According to one of the residents, Ann Mbugua, the road has a gap between All Nations and Tumsifu.

“We have been complaining about the poor state of this stretch of road and we wonder why other parts have been well made yet this part remains dusty,” she said.

She also pointed out that due to the bad condition of the road they often pour water on it to reduce the intensity of the dust that comes about.

“This is usually a very busy road and because of that, we reached an agreement with the contractor to have water poured on the road to help curb the effects of the dust. But even this happens rarely,” she says.

Ann says that on Thursday last week the residents were up in arms and barricaded the road. Only then did the contractor come and pour water. The same scenario occurred Monday this week and after an uproar by residents the water came.

Another resident Elijah Kamau alias Kamau Carpet echoes the sentiments of Ann saying that the issue is really affecting forcing some of the businesses to close shop.

“There are those with hotels. Others are vendors of milk and porridge. Due to the dust that comes about whenever cars are passing, it makes it almost impossible for them to operate,” he said.

He laments that indeed the situation is dire and that they would rather have the murram put up just to avoid the unbearable dust that is really affecting them, as they wait for the tarmac to be put.
