Dr Samuel Mwaura has committed to improve service delivery in governor Susan Kihika’s administration after he was officially sworn in as the County Secretary and Head of Public Service.

Dr Mwaura who has been serving in acting capacity since November 2022 said he will continue with public sector reforms being spearheaded by Governor Kihika in a bid to streamline services in the county.

"I want to assure the residents of Nakuru that the public sector reforms which has been ongoing will continue and as the county secretary I will ensure the services at the county government are improved," said Dr Mwaura.

The Tuesday morning swearing in ceremony was conducted outside the county headquarters and graced by the Deputy Governor David Kones at the County Headquarters.

Dr. Mwaura, emerged as the best among the 18 candidates who had applied for the position after the conclusion of a rigorous selection and vetting process.

Former County Assembly Speaker Joel Kairu was also among the top contenders for the position.

The selection panel was led by Rev William Kambo who was appointed by Governor Susan Kihika.

The Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Joel Kairu, congratulated Dr Mwaura for his appointment noting that he showcased a deep understanding of service delivery and public service issues during the vetting process.

Deputy Governor on his part described Dr Mwaura as a man who has shown a great level of enthusiasm and knowledge on matters relating to the running of the government.

"Dr Mwaura was identified among technical officers and was tasked with advising the governor to delegate public sector management and has never disappointed for the past one year," said Dr Kones.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the County Executive, County Assembly Members, the County officials and members of the public.
