Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja has stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer of multibillion Nakuru-based Keroche Breweries.

She made the announcement even as the company celebrates 25 years of African Entrepreneurship.

Senator Karanja commonly referred to as Tabitha Keroche has been at the helm of Keroche Breweries for the last 25 years.

The company's Chief Finance Officer Potas Anaya now takes over as the new CEO of Keroche.

Taking to her official Facebook page on Tuesday, the soft spoken Karanja wrote, "After 25 years as captain, the time has come for me, Tabitha Karanja to pass the baton to a new generation of business leaders. It is with immense pride that I announce my decision to step down as CEO of Keroche Breweries and hand over to the deserving successor, the current Chief Finance Officer Mr. Potas Anaya."

The Nakuru Senator who was elected on a United Democratic Alliance Party ticket as the third Nakuru Senator added that it was now time for her to deliver to the people of Nakuru County.

According to her, she wants to shift focus on her oversight and legislative role as a Senator representing Nakuru.

Karanja has been the image of Keroche in Nakuru, nationally and internationally.

She has seen success and criticism in equal measure.

The company has clashed severally with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA.) At some point last year, KRA ordered the closure of the company.

However, in a press conference, Senator Tabitha Karanja termed the same witch hunt owing to the political stand she had taken to contest on UDA ticket.

The Senator once again hit headlines two weeks ago after she was on record defending the brewers.

This was ironical as she made the remarks in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's meeting in Nakuru meant to declare war on alcoholism and drug abuse.
