Located in Berea, Subukia, 24km from the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) is Bomas of Nakuru, a facility invested in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kenya to both locals and international tourists.

To get to Bomas, you could use matatus that ply the Nakuru-Nyahururu route or take a 45-minute drive from town.

The entrance fee is Sh 200 for an adult and Sh 100 for children which allows you to enjoy the services offered which include;

Farm tour

At the farm, you can tour the villages which house nine traditional community huts among them being Kikuyu, Abaluhya, Kisii, Kalenjin, Maasai, and Teso that showcase the different ways of life for different tribes.

Bomas also has an animal sanctuary housing Ostriches, crocodiles, and baboons, among other animals. You will be able to feed baboons and tortoises, among other animals in their wildlife sanctuary.

Fishing

If you enjoy fishing you will surely have a good time at Bomas. Carry your fishing gear and at only Sh 500 you can fish and carry your fish home or cook it on the spot if you are camping or want to try an outdoor cooking experience.

African cuisine

The facility is known for African dishes and buffets which cost Sh 1,200 per plate. However, you have to try their signature dish Mashakura which contains pieces of kienyeji chicken, boiled maize and eggs, chips, and different dipping sauces at a cost of sh1,700 a plate, which is enough for 4 people.

Good camping grounds

Bomas has beautiful and vast tended gardens where guests can set up picnics, team building activities, or even pitch tents for camping at a cost of sh 1000 per person sharing. Their open grounds can host up to 30 campers at one go.

The atmosphere there is serene, and peaceful allowing you to chill out and have a peaceful moment.
