Live music lovers were treated to some exquisite live performances by Charles Adamsom aka Makadem at the Nakuru Players' Theatre over Easter.

The performance started with some chilled music by Simor Music and was followed by two and a half hours of multi-lingual performances by Makadem.

The music guru is known for his signature nyatiti tunes and African beats, which he performed on stage at the theatre alongside Nakuru artists.

Who would have thought that a mix of drums, guitar and nyatiti would make jazz sound so amazing?

Makadem played music from different parts of the country, including Luo Nyanza, coastal regions, others from West Africa and some from renowned Kenyan musicians.

His music got the audience on their feet to show off their skills. The young boys seemed to be at their best at Kunengua Viuno, dancing to the music.

For him, his art is far from a single genre, but a collection of different genres presented in an African beat alongside the Nyatiti tunes. Makadem is keen to create pieces that have a jazz feel to them.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu, Makadem noted that the jazz performance at the Player's Theatre was his first solo show alongside a band in Nakuru.

"I enjoyed my visit to Nakuru and playing alongside talented artists. It was interesting to work with different artists; playwrights, backup singers, guitarists and so on. My plan is to come to Nakuru at least three times a year and share my music with the people of this beautiful town," he said.

The music guru is next scheduled to perform in Burundi in April and later in Nairobi.
