As the World Rally Championship (WRC) safari rally hit day two, hundreds of rally fans turned up at Kedong' spectators' stage to watch the race.

Spotting an opportunity to earn a coin, business persons turned up in their numbers to ensure they maximize on the day.

There were different makeshift booths to conduct business, especially in the Nyama choma zone.

However, what caught our eye were the number of vendors who had converted their vehicles to shops.

Not securing a spot to pitch tents to run their businesses did not stop them from making money from the huge crowd who were in attendance to witness the 70th edition of WRC.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu while at the Nyama choma zone, James Rono, notes that business was bad on his end. Adding that lots of people turned up with their vehicles to sell the same product and at a reduced price.

"I spent a lot of money to get a spot under the tent to sell drinks. However, I did not make as much. There was too much competition from the people selling from the vehicles owing to the fact that they could move around," says Rono

Ann Wangui on the other hand says she is reaping big from the rally event. She notes that she chose to sell from her vehicle because it was easy to move around within the venue.

"I went for convenience and a way I could get maximum profit. I did not want to spend money on tents and manpower. With just my car, I am able to sell more and once I am out of drinks, I just rush Naivasha town to stock up," says Wangui.

Away from business, the fans were clearly out to have fun. Fancy wear, posh cars and good vibes characterized the venue.

Clare Vishenda notes that she had the best time of her life owing that it was her first time attending the Safari rally.

Asked about her feel of the place, she said everything fell into place well as she had a good time watching the race and yummy meals served on the spot.

"Business people came in handy. I got nearly everything I needed here. I did not need to go back to town to get what I wanted. Something to commend them for is selling goods at a fair price. I thought they would take advantage of us today," says Vishenda.

She adds that she will be present at Soysambu ranch tomorrow, where Day 3 of the rally will e taking place.
