Nakuru City Queens were on Sunday afternoon humbled after losing 0-3 to Ulinzi Starlets FC, in the Kenya Women Leagues’ football match, held at the Rift Valley Institute of Technical Training (RVIST) Stadium.

At halftime, Ulinzi Starlets FC were already ahead by one goal, thanks to Fasila Adhiambo.

The second half saw both teams come back with energy, as Nakuru City Queens struggled to equalize.

However, five minutes into the second half, Ulinzi Starlets FC added their second goal through Mercy Airo.

The second goal by Ulinzi seemed to change the tactics of the game as the host seemed overpowered.

Things turned even worse for the Chrispin Wesonga-led team after Joseph Mwanza’s team Ulinzi Starlets FC, overpowered Nakuru City Queens' defence, adding a third goal.

The third goal scored by Medy Atieno saw Ulinzi Starlets FC win the match 3-0 against Nakuru City Queens.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu after the match, Ulinzi Starlets Coach Joseph Mwanza welcomed the victory terming it a plus to the team.

“We came for the win so that we can challenge our competitors in the Kenya Women league and make the league more competitive,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Nakuru City Queens’ Manager Bernard Esitoko admitted that the match was tough.

While noting that first leg, the played away against Ulinzi Starlets FC and beat them 3-1, Esitoko said his team had hopes of winning the Sunday’s game to increase their hopes of winning the league, but this was not the case.

“We had great hopes of winning this match to give us a chance to win the league but it has not happened and we have lost,” he said.

Ulinzi Starlets FC that is now position three, will be playing their next match with Wadadia FC, a game that Mwanza says his side will have to fight as it will not be an easy match.
