While some people are shying away from Golf, a group of individuals in Nakuru are ready to venture into the sport and grow into Pro level with training.

We met with them at the Nakuru Golf club ready to learn all about golf and interact with trainers and other trainees on the golf course.

Robert Machari, a banker in Nakuru said he decided to take up the training and learn golf because it’s a networking sport. According to him, learning golf is investing in his social capital.

He noted that compared to other clubs, the training charges being offered in Nakuru are considerably favourable and he would recommend people to take up the opportunity.

Faith Marekia, a water engineer by profession and an entrepreneur in Nakuru running the Horizon Drilling company says that playing golf is something that had been ringing in her mind for a long time.

“When I tried to evaluate different sports and a networking platform the only option that came to my checklist was golf. It a sport that can help me expand my social network,” said Marekia.

On the other hand, the founder of MG innovation hub, George Muturi, says he was there to try something new and that the year is still young so there was no harm in picking up a new hobby.

“I am really excited about learning golf. I hope we will be able to complete the program in the set eight weeks and now be able to start playing competitive golf and also network,” he said.

The three trainees are part of a larger group undergoing golf training program organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Network (YEN) Africa at Nakuru Golf Club.
